Marguerite Blais

Marguerite Blais holds a PhD in communication from the University of Québec in Montréal, and has extensively studied the organ and piano. Well-known in public circles as a television personality and journalist, Mrs. Blais made her mark most recently as general director of the mayor of Montreal 's Foundation for Youth, and is presently the president of the Council for Families and Children.

A wide variety of advisory boards have benefited from Marguerite Blais' social commitment and active participation, such as Centraide of Greater Montreal, the Deaf People's Foundation of Quebec, the Deaf Women's Residence of Montreal and the Artists' Union.

She has acted as spokesperson for Little Brothers of the Poor, the Canadian Cancer Society, and World Vision for Africa . She was also part of the working team of the Generations Forum in October 2004, whose report was made public last September.

On April 21, 2004 , Mrs. Blais received a prize from the University of Quebec in Montreal highlighting her exceptional contribution to the development of the Faculty of Literature, Language and Communications. She was also honoured at the 5th edition of the Quebec Business Women awards on October 12, 2005 .
