Welcome from your 50th District Governor to what will be the 100th Toastmasters conference in District 61. It is fabulous that you will be celebrating this milestone with your fellow members.

The conference theme is Highway to Success! Highways are fast and exciting, just like our Toastmasters conferences, and this highway leads to the place where we will be Shaping Ourselves for Success - the Holiday Inn Pointe Claire in Montreal. We will be Shaping Ourselves on the weekend, and we will continue Shaping our World afterwards.

This conference weekend will be memorable for many reasons. On Saturday morning we will meet popular Keynote Speaker, Dr. Joe Schwarcz. He is Montreal’s favorite scientist, author, motivational speaker, magician and broadcaster. Our International Director, Gary Mull, will be here on an official visit. At lunch, we will honor communication and leadership award recipient, Caroline Tison, Executive Director of WICS, a West Island community development and fundraising organization. On Saturday night we will groove to the live music of Caribbean band, Jab Jab. Add workshops, contests, elections, food and more frolic, and we will be talking about our 100th celebration for some time.

This Spring Conference is also an occasion to celebrate our success, both individual and as a district. The Wall of Fame will list all the members who have completed educational awards since the Fall Conference. The district will showcase its best workshop presenters and contest speakers and our international speech contest winner will be chosen to advance to the regional competition. And best of all, we will have You there with us.

It is the conference delegates like yourselves that makes a conference possible. They create a place where we can renew friendships, forge new ones, and celebrate together. When you take the Highway to Success, I urge you to take full advantage of all the opportunities the weekend will have to offer!
