Toastmasters Spring Conference 2009

Top 5 Reasons to attend Spring Conference 2009 - District 61

Why should you consider attending the 2009 Spring Conference? We recently conducted a survey of people who have attended several conferences - experts through experience you might say. An interesting pattern started to evolve. Here are the top 5 reasons:

  1. Hear great speakers. This conference has two keynote speakers. The first speaker is Mark Brown, World Champion of Public Speaking (1995), who's purpose is threefold: to touch your head and make you think, to touch your heart and make you feel, to touch your hands and make you act. The second speaker is John Rich, author of "Beyond Relationship Selling", who will inspire us to reach for our own success.
  2. Meet up with friends. Why not invite someone from your Toastmasters club to join you? The conference can be something else you have in common - to talk about, analyze and enjoy. Attend different workshops and share what you learn. You'll also have opportunities to make new friends - Toastmasters outside your club.
  3. Learn something new. Get inspired! The workshops often focus on teaching something or just making you think. Learn more about the Toastmaster organization outside your club. Spring is the time for electing District Officers.
  4. Attend the speech and table topic contests. These people have won 2 or 3 contests already! Ever wonder what would happen if you won your club speech or table topic contest? .. then won the area contest? .. then won the division contest? You would then compete against other division winners - delivering your speech in front of all of us at the Spring Conference. Wow!
  5. Relax, eat well and smile. Oh yes and dance with stars! The food at the Château Cartier is terrific (we had a conference there a couple of years ago). There will be a pull-out schedule full of events in the booklet you receive when you arrive at the conference. And dancing? Absolutely. Dance the night away at the Sock Hop Friday but save some steam for Saturday - the more formal dinner and dance. Relax? Well only if you have to.
